How to remove bank hypothecation for car loans

Till now i used to think all govt offices work in a sluggish manner.But my last visit to the
Attapur RTO office has proved otherwise. I went to the RTO for removing the hypothecation of car on my RC book since i have pre-closed my bank loan.
To my surprise the process got over in 10 minutes time with absolutely no hassle.
So for hyderebaadi's who are looking for information on how to get the hypothecation removed
here goes the process,

1) Make sure that the Bank sends Form-35 along with the closure statement.
The Form comes attached with NOC to the Insurance company and the RTO
2) You'll need the following documents
*Original RC book
* Copy of valid Insurance
* Copy of valid Pollution certificate
3) Reach RTO and submit the above documents with FORM-35 and NOC's (original)
4)Pin up the documents alongwith a selfaddressed envelope(You'll get the envelope in the RTO office itself)
4) Pay 325 Rs (Fee-100/-,Service Charge=200/-,Tax-25/-)
5)Take the receipt.

and viola the changed RC book comes within a week's time by post. In my case it arrived in 4 days time.
Just ensure that the text 'Self Owned' is printed in the place of 'Hypothecated'.

So simple is the process !

  2. Thanks for this useful post. I followed the procedures outlined in this post and while I am typing this comment I have my new RC in my wallet. Few additions to the steps outlined
    --You need to carry xerox of any document which proves your identity(pancard/voter's id etc)
    --Fees you have to pay is 525/-(Inflation!!!!!!!!)
    --Also while you purchase envelope from RTO premises ,get a small plastic cover for your RC as well. They need your RC to be inside this cover while submitting documents(it costs you only 1 Rupee)

  5. Hi,

    The process is slightly changed and with the modified process I listed below the procedure at Khairatabad RTA (AP09).

    Make sure that the Bank sends Form-35 along with the closure statement.
    The Form comes attached with NOC to the Insurance Company and the RTO
    1) You'll need the following documents
    *Original NOC & 2 sets of Form-35 duly signed by both parties( Banker & Vehicle Owner)
    * Original RC book
    * Copy of valid Insurance
    * Copy of valid Pollution certificate
    2) Reach RTO and submit the above documents with FORM-35 and NOC's (original)
    3) Pin up the documents along with original RC(Smart Card) in cover which sell in the Xerox shop nearby at a cost of 2 Rs/-each.

    4) Pay 435 Rs (Fee-100/-, Service Charge-100/-, Smart Card Fee- 200Rs/-, Postal Charges-35/-Rs)

    5) Take the receipt, within a week’s times it will reach to the address given in RC. If address is different with the RC provided earlier fill the Form-33 and attach duly with the aforesaid documents)

    Most important thing, don't forget to bring change of 2, 5 & 10Rs/- :-)

  10. One thing to note in Hyderabad is . Guys who got their car registered at Kondapur RTO i.e. AP28 series have to goto Attapur RTO to get their Hypothecation removed. This can be confusing at times and painful as the sitance between kondapur and Attapur RTO is about 20 KM.
    Rest My process was smooth at Attaput (registration was done it Kodapur RTO office)

    Total Cost : 535
    Total Time : 10 Min

    I went there at 10: 45
    The administrator officer sits right at the end on the right side if office in open cabin.
    He checked my documents which were all in order
    Then went to counter no 2 . The guy asked me to pin up my original RC in a envelope.
    Bought one from just outside the office on same floor for 2 bucks
    Submitted my documents and viola its done. He said it will take 1 week for the process

    - Provide Registration number and Last 5 digits/characters of Chassis Number
    - Update the financier details i.e. populate the termination date and then submit. If any errors they are displayed at the top of the page
    - Choose appointment slot
    - It then provides a way to pay online of through eseva
    - Print the appointment conformation and payment confirmation (if paid online) and go to the RTA 15 mins before appointment time
    - Submit forms and take the receipt
    - Then go to a separate counter and provide thumb print and signature
    - New RC will be sent home. Check status of application online at https://tgtransport.net/TGCFSTONLINE/OnlineTransactions/OnlineApplicationStatus.aspx
